
THE VICTORIA AND ALBERT MUSEUM

The Victoria and Albert Museum is the world's greatest museum of art and design. It was established in 1852 to make works of arts available to all and to inspire British designers and manufacturers. It gained its current name in 1899 when Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone of a new wing and renamed the Museum in memory of her husband, Prince Albert.
The Museum is a veritable storehouse of treasures with rich and diverse collections spanning over 2000 years of human creativity in virtual every medium from all over the world. Many of the galleries themselves are also beautiful in design and collection
There are over 2.75 million objects in the collections and of these about 60,000 objects are usually on display.
